These parasites cause diseases that can be harmful to the bees colonies such as a disease that causes newly raised bees to emerge with malformed wings and the inability to fly. Honeybees are not endangered mainly because they are globally distributed and primarily managed by beekeepers. However these endangered species include American native bee species that are not on the endangered species list.
